Political name question

Why is it that almost everyone still calls George W. Bush, Mr. Bush when he is the president?
And everyone still calls the disaster that was in there before him President Clinton?

Guess that?s what we get for having a liberal based media.

I dunno. Clinton was a better president, economy wise, and such, he just screwed himself over in his personal life. Bush has a way to go. Look at the economy....

He may have had a knack for economy, but that's because he was constantly asking his wife what to do next. And everything else, he simply fUx0r3d up.

Never noticed that. They always say President Bush where I live (Eugene, OR). Maybe it is only "Mr. Bush" locally?

I don't know where you get your news but every media source I've seen refers to 'gotta take a month off to unwind' GWB as 'President Bush'.

As with everyone else on this thread, I've only heard him called President Bush by the media.

I live in Charlotte, NC. Granted most of the local stations call him Mr. Bush, but unless they've changed lately all the national news shows were calling him that also... I heard Mr. Bush on the Clinton News Network (CNN) yesterday.

How can you blame the president for big busness screwing up their accounting? If Gore were in office, he'd be handing out our tax dollars to bail them out instead of going after the guys that blew up the WTC.

the NY times and washington post use Mr. (or Ms where applicable) as the title for everyone, thats where the trend started. they called him "mr clinton" too.

Yeah right. He'd probably be doing exactly the same thing as Bush (and the economy probably would be in the same situation too)

I call him "that idiot Bush" in a demeaning tone, I have no respect for the guy and don't consider him the true president. Yes, I know he is officially the president, but I don't feel he deserves to be.

Yeah Scotty, and Nixon beat Kennedy in '68 (there-abouts), except for criminal vote fraud in Illinois. Get over it....dummy Gore lost.

Scotty...let me rephrase. Kennedy beat Nixon in '68 (there-about) because of criminal vote fraud in Illinois. And yes the bigger criminal won. Gore lost because of stupid democratic voters in Florida.

You can rephrase that all you want, Kennedy and Nixon didn't run against each other in 68. In 68 it was Humphrey against Nixon. In 1960 it was Nixon against Kennedy.

Don't care for Bush or Gore - political non-intellects; my historical contribution - 1968 Nixon (Republican) beat Humphrey (Democrat) and Wallace (Independent - can't remember actual name of party); RFK was assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan in LA before the Democratic convention.

Gore and Bush sux0r. Bush is in office though, so he gets to take the main part of the beating.

I hear it usually President Bush/Clinton when being asked a question and being referred to, but sometimes they are referred to as Mr. Bush/Clinton later in the story since it sounds odd to keep saying President Bush/President Clinton.

As far as I checked 12 months before he went out of office economy started sliding big time, I know my stocks and IRA lost money druing those times and unemployment went up or maybe I am just a whining Right wing conservative Republican - you bet your a$$ I am.
