Political correctness run amuck, or Nike insensitivity?

Maybe I'm just an insensitive old fart, but I thought this ad was cleverly done and conveyed an important message about physical fitness. Am I wrong? Do the feminazis have that much power?

Most commercials are mind-numbingly banal. At least this one was clever.

Chess I'm shocked, I'd expect you to side with the PC crowd on this one. ;)

It does seem a bit out of hand, I was just reading about this in the WSJ, then not much further in the paper there was an article about an anti-smoking TV commercial which showed body bags piling up outside the offices of Phillip Morris. How is the Nike ad so much more offensive that it needs to be pulled?

Oh well, hypocrisy still reigns.

Bobberfett: I love the anti-smoking ad. That's a hoot! Right out of the '60s. Where ARE my bell-bottoms and love beads? :p

I thought that the commercial was cleverly done. It was clearly a parody of slasher movies. My favorite part is that NBC ok'ed the commercial in before the Olympics but, at the first criticism they pulled the ad. Talk about pc at its finest ;).

This reminds me back to when I worked in a lock-up facility for youth, and we ran an intensive physical fitness program.

Some parole officers, who had to be responsible for the youth after their releases, commented that we had made the criminals faster, and harder to catch.

Haven't seen the spot but the text makes it sound OK. Keep in mind we're talking about NBC here. They're very fresh with the democratic party, to put it lightly. The dems are trying to wave the "high moral ground" flag this election cycle (Joseph Censorman is holding the flag). Put two and two together and you bet NBC's gonna pull anything that remotely relates to violence in the media. Or am I reading too much into this? :)

JellyBaby: I suspect the Gloria Steinhem contingent of the gene pool started screaming about violence against women.
