Political conference...Business attire

I am going to a three day political conference in Memphis Tennessee next month.

The attire for some events is listed business and some business casual.


Must I wear a jacket for business? Couldn't I just wear dress shirt and tie?

I really don't want to sit and wear jacket all day because it will be a big crowd in a little room and I know it will be burning up!

I think you need a jacket, not sure about suspenders.

I will not been seen in public with you in suspenders. Those are for old people and you are far from that.

If they are done right, they look very classy and not at all oldish. I wear suspenders from time to time and if you wear the ones like this you should be alright.

True. Most people I see wearing suspenders are older, never seen anyone young. He doesn't strike me as one to wear them, I was shocked when he said that, it was the first I had heard. I still think he needs a jacket though.
