And what would you say his odds are?
I didn't disagree with you.

You brought up a nameless hypothetical candidate that would actually speak about the real problems without being a typical candidate.

That candidate isn't nameless. It's Bernie Sanders.

His chance of getting elected is likely 0, as you yourself said.

I didn't imply, or rather mean to imply, that you were disagreeing.

It would never happen, but it would be great to see a left/right duo run as independents on a platform of fixing the underlying problems inherent to Washington D.C., campaign finance reform, the surveillance state, and other issues that really should not be party specific.

The way our elections are structured makes this scenario such an uphill battle and probably not very feasible but a candidacy not beholden to a single party and running on real issues that many and the left and right can agree on would be great.

The fiscal cons are held in the same contempt as they hold the social cons. Social conservatives are going to DOMINATE the primary, you can be damned sure about that after the health care and SSM decisions handed down recently by the SCOTUS.

I wonder if any of the candidates will try to run on a proposal to pass an anti-gay marriage amendment to the Constitution. Imagine if that candidate won the primary and the 2016 election became a referendum on gay marriage.

I know all of us want Trump to win the primaries only because it would be fucking amazing and hilarious and a train wreck of historic proportions, but he won't, unfortunately.

I am an atheist, but I find myself saying, "Please God, please!" In the last election Santorum ("Senator Frothy Butt Goo") came in 2nd, so why not Trump?
