a lot of cops provoke people cuz cops have nothing better to do with their time and you get situations in which non criminals like mumia abu jamal have to defend themselves. of course the media is complicit in covering up what actually happened and always reports things as if the cop was innocent. lets give the guy who shot the cop in this case the benefit of the doubt here\

there are tons of cases where cops are shooting unarmed people to death. i just posted one yesterday where a cops killed a dude for screwing a chick. here in the bay area some cop shot a 13 year old kid to death. the op should be more concerned about things like this than shootings of cops

Perfectly said. People need to wake up from that shiny foo foo dream and realize these pigs are executing us daily!

The bold may be because he wanted to kill the cop, but still preserve the 2nd Amendment. If he had killed the cop with his own gun, regardless of how it was purchased. This would be plastered over the national news right now.

So congratulations gun nutters, you got to see a cop die and not have the gun blamed.

cops should be unarmed too :colbert:

I'm going to step out of character for a moment and give a serious answer to a troll post. Apologies in advance.

It's not because they're bored and have nothing to do. It's not (necessarily) because they're only a half step from being the very same criminals they're supposed to be locking up. And it's not because there's a Gub'mint conspiracy to ensure the sheeple are constantly reminded of the size & shape of the hob nail'd boot heeelzz on their throats... Or whatever else people are screaming about this time.

So take a deep breath, a step back, and look at it logically...

Th cop's JOB is to put together cases which the relevant District Attorney can sleepwalk to plea bargain convictions (Cheaper for the State). More cases and more convictions means he's doing great work. Promotions and awards follow. Capice?

In order to do that Job, the police are given exceedingly broad powers to Lie, Cheat, Create their own Reasonable Cause and Exigent Circumstances... and push.. pull.. cajole... Bait... Trick.. Whatever it takes to Make YOU do something they can arrest and imprison you for.

That is his JOB.

The best thing anyone can do is Don't Play His Game. If shit is going down - Leave. Answer only what you must, with no added detail. If you're not comfortable, SHUT UP. Don't give the cop anything to hang you with.

They were supposed to meet for lunch. At about the same time, an anomaly splinter in the fabric of our universe tore right where he was standing. In that split second, his doppleganger from the neighboring universe traded places with him. This alien lifeforce who had been engaged in a life threatening battle with a local predator was confused and disoriented when suddenly before him stood a person clothed in the garb of the Supreme Overlords which he has extreme hatred for.

I know this is what happened for a fact....

...unless it's not.

I feel sorry for both families. I certainly hope that they find a reason for this behavior - e.g., some environmental cause; maybe bath salts in his coffee or something (I'm not saying this has even a 1% likelihood of being the reason, Thump.)

In one of those articles linked to:
Clark’s home, a gray-sided ranch-style house with blue shutters and a two-door garage, fits in with the peaceful neighborhood. A mobile basketball hoop and a ball sat at the end of the driveway Monday afternoon. Five bushes lined the front of the house, four of them evenly trimmed but one standing a little bit taller than the others. Above that, one line of green Christmas lights still hung from the home’s gutter. Behind the house, neighbors said, Clark grew a great garden every year.
Now there's an example of thorough reporting. "We need facts, man, facts. No speculation. Give us all the facts you possibly can."

Hmm maybe the autopsy on the killer will provide some answers. Maybe it was a mental thing.. Shame that the officer had to lose his life over it. RIP

How are we going to put a stop to something we don't understand?

I understand it, but the answer is not an easy one. We need to work harder to overcome man's nature, both as individuals and as a society.

We have a natural barbarous desire to have what we want, when we want it and our first nature is to up and take it. The rather recent civilized notion that we should work together and share what we have goes against all of that.

We've got a culture that shuns personal responsibility and simultaneously shuns any thought of societal responsibility. Nobody is responsible for anything.

In the name of FREEDOM we have a very me-first American culture. We refuse to teach our children any concepts of ethics and morals. We don't teach them that they have a responsibility to grow into productive, law-abiding, self supporting adults. Instead we teach them that they can do whatever they want and nobody can stop them.

We don't care enough to have compassionate drug policies. We throw away the underclasses because we'd rather lock them up than teach them to play nice. We vote down social programs that would help at a fraction of the cost because we'd rather be tough on crime.

All that said, there is a time when someone has refused society's help to the point that they just need to be removed from the game. The hitch is that we have to do much, much more before deciding someone had reached the point that they are worthless to society.

Until we can implement a more compassionate society full of better people, we will have cases like this one were a man bent on doing evil was met by a man bent on doing good. It's a damn shame that a good man fell this time and we should all feel a little bit responsible.

You know...I've been watching a lot of movies lately where people get anonymous demands for actions that are completely out of their character and getting paid/blackmailed to do them over their cell phones.....hmmm.....

life imitating art?
