She lost any sympathy whatsoever when she decided to play the race card, talk about setting race relations back

Of course it is because she is black, female, and short.

Fixed so no assumption of racism, prejudice, and bigotry is left out.

We MUST not assume that it was simply because she was a complete ass.

I don't dispute that she was an ass, but that isn't why this happened. It happened because the cop was so lacking in composure that he reacted to her immature behavior with an unprovoked, unwarranted use of force. That makes him a liability to his department, plain and simple.

Oh I'm definitely not defending what the officer did. Part of being a police officer is being able to control yourself when provoked.

I'm just saying that she received this treatment in part because she provoked him, not because she was black/female/wearing blue socks/etc. Some people have absolutely no tolerance for authority and they make complete asses of themselves when dealing with authority.

I guess all I'm really trying to say is that I think it's laughable that, based on this video, people have jumped to conclusions of racism. When other members have said "look at how she was acting... is it really *that* surprising that it escalated to this", they're accused of being racist women-haters.

If this person were a white male, there'd be the same response: "Not excusing what the officer did, but the asshole deserved it".

Exactly. Many thousands of officers are probably out there doing a good job of what they do. But you won't see headlines like "Local police officer pulls over speeder, and gives ticket. Entire incident uneventful." They just won't sell very many papers.

The guy in the video was way out of line though.

What she DESERVED was for the officer to tell her to get out of her car and pick up the ticket (or be faced with a fine for littering), then tell her to go on her way.

She didn't deserve to get thrown around for that.
Good call. If that's all it would have been, we all could have been laughing at the stupid driver for littering in front of a policeman. Instead, he royally blew an opportunity to make more money for the police force.
