I am confused about something. I was told by multiple people that in Beverly Hills only Beverly Hills Pd can give out speeding ticket and LAPD can't because they don't have jurisdiction over it, it's a separate city. My friend got speeding ticket in Beverly Hills for going 10 over speed limit from LAPD. So how can LAPD give out a speeding ticket if they do not have jurisdiction in that city?

im not familiar with how california is laid out but jursidiction is usually only over states. for example the anchorage police department up here covers anchorage, eagle river, and wasilla. and in fairbanks the college police and fairbans PD work together. but i would say your friend has a case if he was pulled over by LAPD in nevada

ok scrap my first answer. i just asked some one in law enforcement and they said there is something called "concurrent jurisdiction" where diff police departments from diff cities overlap. you can hire a lawyer to see if thats teh case, or your friend can just pay the fine because he WAS breaking the law

There is no LA County PD.
Areas outside of city jurisdiction are handled by LA County Sheriff.

To me it seems like the LAPD officer might have overstepped his bounds.

Fight it. It can't hurt.

LA County Sheriff is what i meant. I was making sure he wasn't confusing the two.
