Not only the method posted, but perhaps the police were also in the neighborhood searching for the car that was registered to their address that had been involved in the drive-offs without paying.

I'm sure the police had it figured out from the beginning, but given the girls' ages (and as they're living with their mom, I'm guessing they're single) I'd bet that the police suspected that it was very possible that the boyfriend of one of the girls was responsible. Still, 5 hours seems like a bit much.

However, I have no problem talking to the police honestly. I suspect the police (at least in my area) have pretty strong bullshit meters. If I have nothing to hide, and I have absolutely nothing to hide, then I have no fear that they're going to "find" something.
