Police chase on CNN

The police have been doing a lw speed chase for the last 20 min live on CNN. They had plently of chances to take the teen out when he was on deserted streets and driving 10mph.

They have tried the pit man. about 10 times on busy streets, had him at the curb one and let him get away.

Talk about lousy police driving.

Why do police bother to chase people? Sometimes they'll have a helicopter overhead and then 30 cars following the suspect. Of course when they chase, the suspect speeds up, endangering everyone. Why not just use the helicopter to track his movements, let the guy drive wherever he's going, then arrest him there?

They had plenty of chances to box him in or pit. Desreted industrial streets, tires are gone.

They let him get on the freeway, 20 cops behind, he meets traffic and then they decide to do the first pit. On a bridge, when they had just passed a tanker truck...good grief!

They called off the chase now.

dang at this point they are going to have to ticket him for going to slow and stopping in the middle of the street.

What if he drives into/near an airport? Restricted air space requires the helicopter not to follow. Also, he could park on the side under a bridge where the helicopter can't see what's happening below and find a way to escape like that. I see your point, but there are just way too many variables to consider.

No I turned on some of it. I also realize that more than likely, they were following rules set down by there department.
