Hell, this one was a mistake. Could have happened to anybody. But in old Rodney's case, they meant to hammer him. They should have beat him to death. Would have saved everybody a LOT of money and trouble!

Why has there been so many reports of police brutality lately? Hasn't the crime rate fallen the last few years?

Also, I seen that some Senator or Congressman said on the news the other day "No one will be safe until all the cops are dead"? What was this man talking about? Maybe he was right.

Yeah, you know, run over him with the car he eluded them in? Throw him out into the traffic that he had just endangered. Stomped his head for twenty minutes or so. Stuff like that...

Biggest problem facing most police departments is the lack of experience, which translates into more aggressive responses and a willingness to react with extreme actions, versus waiting just a few seconds longer to see if the situation settles down and can be handled with words. Right next to that though is the chance of approaching a simple situation and suddenly be facing a gun or a knife.

but I do think we're getting more "cowboys" in the uniforms that is costing them alot of respect and willingness to comply.

Then you have the bozo pervert cop in suffolk county,New York(Long Island) who is under investigation and possible law suit for forcing women to walk home nude for being alledged unable to pass a sobriety test.

I hope if this cop is found guilty, that he does time at Rikers and has a tag on him,"I'm a pervert bad cop-- kick me".

Too damn bad good cops suffer because of A-holes like this.:|:|

You know, I think the majority of police officers are good, hard working people with good intentions. Its the few that are a cop because they were picked on throughout life, who have low self-esteem, and are getting back at the world, one day at a time, who ruin the reputation of police in general. I think the police going at this mentally retarded man with bats, was ridicoulous. This happened not far from where I live, (Portland, Oregon) And People I have talked to in the area say witnesses were screaming at the police that this man was mentally retarded, and that he did not speak english. The officers told them to stay back, and methodically beat on this man. Most of the people interviewed said they were disgusted by this whole thing. All because of a case of mistaken identity, an innocent man gets beaten almost to death. This should have gotten the kind of attention the king case had gotten. There is no reason, at all, for six men to beat on one for an extended amount of time, and try to claim self-defense, or that they did not know he was brain damaged. I dont buy it at all, And I cannot believe these same officers walk the streets today. They should be beaten mercilessly, tortured, and sodomized in front of a public audience, that would be justice.

I agree, cops are generally good but they also do have alot of pressure. Still that doesn't justify the brutality they show. They should be extensivly punished.

making matters worse, when you have a rotten cop generally the other police know about it but don't want to rock the boat cuz you never know when you might have to depend on the jerk to save your life, then the prick decides to get even and lets you dangle.

police that are just as bad as the criminals should be punished to a higher degree, but if that's the case, then the good police should be rewarded beyond the average citizen. Last I knew, the average police was making less then someone working on an assembly line putting cars together, not even taking into account all the people that ridicule the police when they do stumble.

not an easy position to be in.
