http://reviews.cnet.com/Polaro...5-6490_7-30632676.html - A Review

6.0 out of 10
The good: Excellent interface; big display; flexible playback options; FM/voice/line-in recording.
The bad: Massive; short battery life; easy-to-jostle controls; limited file organization; poor FM reception; noisy radio and voice recording; no dedicated controls for Hold or volume.
The bottom line: Outstanding usability and solid audio quality don't overcome this player's long list of shortcomings.

For $150, you get a 40GB player with big LCD. I don't think you can ask for too much at that price. IPOD 20GB will cost you nearly as twice as much without FM or voice recording functions (those functions only come with attachements).

I think the next best deal is $199 for the Philips 20GB harddrive based mp3 players which has black cover and very stylish.

True, but I personally don't think I could trust Polaroid to make a decent quality mp3 player, they're simply not in the audio biz like Creative is and other companies. Also, the size of that thing is humongous. It looks like the size of a ruggedized vertical market PocketPC.

But I guess if you don't mind lugging it around in your backpack or whatnot and not being pocketable, then you can't beat the price for the amount of storage that comes with it.

This is what we in the hot deals business call "junk". I've looked at this device on several occasions and the reviews do not make nice reading.

FYI,
Polaroid had some financial woes and for lack of a better word, started whoring out their name to the highest bidder. The CD-RW drives we used to carry at OM were probably the second worst product I've ever seen. If brandname has any significance, I would avoid this like the plague.

For $150.00 I'd go with a 15GB Dell DJ. Not as spacious, but a damn nice MP3 player.

You're going to be waiting for a long while.
