Poker sets on Ebay

My friend and I were looking up poker chip sets on Ebay, and found an astoudning number of items like the one above-99 cents for a full set. Thing is, we know there's a catch (we're not retarded), we just can't figure out what it is. Thoughts?

There's like 20 minutes left on that one, and there were others for that price that had almost no time left (1-2 minutes).

My brother has that identical set, bought it for about, 60$ CAD on sale. I say you should get them, nice solid case and great chips.

Cheap composite chips have smudged designs. Higher quality ones have very nice, well-defined borders to their designs, and some also come with throw-away (but still like new) decks from actual Casinos (Bellagio, etc)

na they are really cheap, its the store that sells them that high. i met this desi guy that sold chips on ebay for awhile and made lots of money. i mean really? why would a set of chips cost $100. it doesnt take much to make them.

That particular set is made from a plastic resin type substance with a metal insert. They look and feel like plastic, and sound like metal when you splash the pot. What you want to look for is an actual 11.5g clay composite chip, w/o a metal insert. A set of 500 or 600 should run you about $60 shipped, and they are MUCH nicer. You could also go with a set of 9g clay composite chips (a popular style is 'Vegas' or 'Vegas Pro') which will feel and sound nice, but aren't as heavy.

If you really want to splurge I HIGHLY recommend the Nevada Jack or Desert Sands clay chips from http://www.nevadajacks.net .
