So I've been playing on pokerstars and the last 12 out of 14 times, I've lost to an all in hand who rivers me against nearly impossible odds.

For example:
I had Ace Ten and raised, about 5 people called and the flop was: A 10 9.

1st player: check
second player: bets 100
ME: raised to 400
others folded
Button: calls

1st player: Goes All in.
Second player: calls
ME: Raises to all in.
Button: all in
second player: calls the all in

Show of hands:
1st player: A 4
Second player: A 8
Me: A 10 (two pairs)
Button: Q 9

Ofcourse, the turn and river were: Q then 9 so he got full house. Amazing luck, or something seriously wrong with Poker Star's algorithm. I'm going back to UB.

CLIFFNOTES:
Got killed on the river with top two pairs, when a dumb call got lucky and caught a runner runner for full house! D@MN! I'm gonna give up on pokerstars now.

It is luck man.

Stuff like this is rare and is luck.

This woman in England got a Royal Flush with something like a £2 bet and she came out with the jackpot of about £150k or £220k from the Casino.

No one expects a Royal Flush like that. The odds are not good. But she was lucky and got it.

These types of things have happened to me too many times to remember them all. I have also rivered my fair share of people its just I dont remember those like I do the ones I got killed on.

I feel your pain tho cuz the Q 9 has no right being in that hand. Its very hard to win against players like that because they call everything.

Hey, don't feel too bad about that. It happened to em all the time. Take one case last night for example, after the flop I got two pair, A & Q. I went all-in, and there are two other people went all-in with me. One had a pair of J and the other a pair of K. And what happen, another K went up to on the river. :(

But then again, there were cases where the river card help me won the hands. :)

I had Ace high flush the other night. Lost to a full house on 4th street.

Had a King high flush last night, lost to four of a kind. Two sevens were on the board. Guy had 2 more in his hand.

That's been my life today. Lost 3x w/AA today so far, twice to people that drew 3 to a straight and caught runner-runner to win. Everyone gets rivered now and then, I guess. :p

Happened the other night as well, twice. Had two pair and caught caught by someone drawing runner runner spades to a flush w/35 in their hand. It's ok because net, I'm about 25 dollars up on her (yes, it's low stakes), but on any given hand, she can be dangerous b/c you'll see her playing 93, Q7, absolute crap hands.

Last hand I'm playing against someone, he raises pre-flop. I've got a moderate hand (56c) but I'm in the BB and no one else calls, so I risk it. The board comes 3 4 6, giving me a straight draw/top pair and who knows for him. We see a Q, I bet, he calls. 7 comes on the river, so I've nailed my straight. His cards? 58o. :|

You'll beat loose players in the long run, but man it sucks in the short run when they catch cards.

It's funny, you watch the Pro's on tv, and they are winning with a good pair, or 3 of a kind on occasion. With low-limit poker, a lot of people stay to the river, and often catch what they need.

Then you watch the "Celebrity Poker" Yuck. Watched the new one the other night, Fred Savage, early on, has Jack high crap, or something, and the woman had pair of queens, after the flop dropped a queen. Savage was calling and raising.... good god. Even if he pulled Jacks, he still wouldn't have the highest pair available.... I turned it off at that point. Amateurs!
