I just won $30 playing Texas hold'em with my brother and some friends tonight. Now I have some money to go the firing range tommorow. 😀

$20 buy-in...with 15 people! I didn't win though...but I stayed alive pretty long, and had some killer hands (made some killer mistakes too though.)

Edit: Blinds started at $1 small; $2 big and quickly progressed to $5/$10 and then $10/$25 as people were eliminated (each player putting in $20 real got $250 worth of chips.)

There's more skill than that. Some of my friends are pretty damn good with the probabilities (i.e. 'know when to hold, when to fold'.) If its single-deck and they're right of dealer, watch out!

Maybe not, but the rich old men certainly do. There is quite a lot of money riding on games and tournaments, the better players are living off it just like with poker.

Never played Bridge but I've played Pinochle. As much as I like Pinochle I must say there's a reason you don't see it on TV like no limit Texas hold'em. It doesn't have the excitement or suspense of no limit hold'em. I'm guessing Bridge is the same way - fun in it's own way but not something that's going to get popular or be on TV.

I love no limit hold'em. I've been playing on UltimateBet.com for a few months now. The only downside is playing for free chips isn't "real" poker because the players don't care and can get more. If you want to have some fun play for Ultimate points or better yet real $$$. My favorite is the 1c/2c blinds because you can have some fun and it's still fairly cheap unless you get too aggressive.
