Poker home game

Got poker chips for my birthday today and I was supposed to plan what to do tonight. And I thought I could have a poker night with my friends. I got the 500 chip set from costco. I am not sure about the denominations of the chips and what should I use for dealer, big blind and small blind markers? Should I just stamp blank CDs with the words Dealer, BB, and SB on them? The set has 150 white, 150 red, 100 blue, 50 green and 50 black. Should I just stamp a blank CD with the words Dealer, BB, and SB on them?

you only need a dealer button. sb is automatically after the dealer button, bb is the next person after sb.

You don't need dealer, bb, and sb buttons unless you have a designated dealer.

Typically whites are 1, reds are 5, blues are 10, greens are 25, and blacks are 100. You can make them whatever you want though.

How many people are playing? That is usually the deciding factor on blinds and chip values.

the easiest way is to have a buy in, and set how many starting chips each person should have. If you a short on time, give each players lower chips.

In party poker, the starting blinds are 10/15. each player gets 800 chips. the blinds will double every 10 hands.

Party poker has crazy blinds in their sit n gos. Players are terrible, so that makes up for the crazy blinds, but still. If you want a fast tournament, go with that, otherwise have timed levels, such as 20 minutes each.

Even 20 minute levels are short. Most major tournaments have hour long levels or more, but they have several days.
