And I am ashamed to say, its actually pretty cool.

Only downside is it appears to need Android 6. I only have one device that can play it, and its a tiny phone with a tiny screen.

Alright, I see a problem already.

People are gonna be walking around and getting hit by cars. At the very least they'll be trespassing a lot.

It's OK.
It's basically ingress with a pokemon skin. It'll probably do well because of that. The world has already been populated by ingress and the back end stuff is already pretty solid.

I can't really comment on the accuracy of the Pokemon stuff as I've never played any of those.

I got it today to check out because I read about it on all of my gaming news sites. You actually have to physically move around in real life to move your in-game character. Never seen anything like it. Being a somewhat lazy person, I'm not sure how I feel about it.

What phone?

There's a fairly heavy load on their servers at the moment. Have you tried at various times?
Nexus 5X, with Android N beta.

I'll keep trying, but I don't expect things to change.

Edit: Just saw something about Android N not being supported until an official release. :\

Yep.

Doesn't support Nougat at this point.

Stupid game won't work for me yet. I created the character and then it just stopped working. Now I get servers are unavailable.

I'm giving up. Stops music from running in the background. GPS issues galore. Servers unavailable. Have to constantly log in. 2 miles of walking yielded 2 Pokemon. ughhhhhh.

I must admit that I'm not getting a lot of the problems you guys are getting. There are a few server problems where I can't log in or I get dropped but that's understandable when it's only been released in two countries but every ah heck is logging in!

Is there an online guide to each pokemon in this game and which are the good ones?

I have no idea what's going on!

I downloaded this game but I don't understand it at all. Does your pokemon themselves level up? Can you do attacks or just throw pokeballs?

AFAIK you capture pokemon by throwing balls at them. You can level them up or evolve them into different pokemon using candies and dust stuff. You can battle at a gym when you get to level 5.

My daughter and I started playing the first day, but servers have been down more than up for us. Lots of similar complaints and news stories about the server outages online. We were out late the fist night about 2am PST and were able to hit a lot of locations and gather pokeballs and items. We've got a fair number of pokemon too.

I was able to get on for a bit this morning and went to my first gym battle. I beat the two pokemon that were there, but lost server connection just as I won and it never recognized my win. I let the phone sit for 30 minutes before I shut it off and it never connected.

People are walking all over my town staring at their phones trying to log in. Most of them look disappointed. I overheard a couple walking in the water at the lake and one asked the other if they'd caught any water pokemon yet.

My local gym has a 480cp Pidgeotto so it might take me awhile to do something about that.

Currently have a 173cp Pinsir and 143cp Pidgeotto. rest are sub 70cp.

There are a lot of videos that shows how to spoof the gps so you never have to leave your bed.

It's either do that or walk off a bridge as people are doing already or finding dead people. ;)

My son and I just came back from walking around the lower east side and Chinatown in Manhattan. We caught 50 pokemon between us both. Have hundreds of poke balls too. I've already evolved a couple. Caught a cp180 scythe in Chinatown. Sweet. Everyone is playing this. All the store owners were playing. It's a phenomenon.
