Need help passing Volcano stage! The game says I need 1 more pokemon and I will see the next level.

I was looking at some tips on another site; it says to throw the balls at the pits across from Charmeleon for a few Pokemons to show themselves. I?ve thrown everything I can think of except the game controller, and I still can?t get them stupid a** Pokemons to show themselves!

Please help!!!
