Anybody know any sure fire methods of drying this sfuff up fast? I've been using Calamine lotion for almost a week now and although it's doing the job it's too damn slow. Sometimes it doesn't itch and other times I feel like using steel wool on my skin.

This madness must stop! :)

watered down bleach, drys it up in 2 days max. *MAKE SURE YOU WATER IT DOWN* even if you don't it won't kill you unless you fall asleep in it but i made the mistake of soaking my poison ivy feet in a bucket of bleach that wasn't watered down enough and for months afterwards i had chemical burns on my feet, it got rid of it though, bleach does work great, i still use it, just water it down :)

LOL. I hope not since I must have gotten in my backyard. New "landscaping" might catch the eye of my neighbors. ;)

You don't know how lucky you are. I swear I can get the stuff just by looking at a picture of it. :)

TecNu Is your new Jesus.

I got introduced to this stuff by my grandfather, as I am EXTREMLY allergic to Poison Ivy. It can cause bleeding blisters without my even scratching it.

Anyway, TecNu works, 100%. Will stop the itch, dry the sh*t up, and it's gone before you know it. You should be able to find it at Eckerd, CVS, etc. - major drugstores.

Famous last words of my uncle before he got poison ivy all over himself while showing us how it didn't bother him.

It should be by the cortizone lotions, etc.

Oh, and I want an update in a week or so so I know how well it worked for you and we can confirm my tip was awesome.

I hope Walgreens carries it as that is the easiest and closest place to get in and out of.

yep TecNu all the way. if that doesn't help you may have to get a steroid shot from your doctor. i was so allergic i had to go that route once. oddly enough i'm not really allergic anymore. weird.

Worst time I had it, it covered my entire legs, parts of my hands, face, and one of my arms. After 2 weeks of it spreading and getting worse, I started taking regular generic Benedryl, and sitting out in the sun with no sunblock. Within 1 week, the poison Ivy was better and I just had normal sunburn instead.

Keep Tecnu on hand so you can wash off the oils right away next time. It works best when used before you get the nasty rash. Ask your doctor for an ointment to keep on hand to help heal up the rash. I think my spouse uses Triamcinolone or something like that. It's a steroid, I'm sure. Calamine isn't really helpful. Antihistamines like benadryl might be a little helpful. Trick with poison oak/ivy is to get the oils off your skin as soon as possible without spreading it around in the process. Also, wash your clothes and shoes or whatever else touched the offending plant with Tecnu so you don't reexpose yourself. God I'm glad I don't react to poison oak/ivy. I can roll around in it naked and not get a rash. My spouse, on the other hand, can get it from petting our cat after the cat ran around outside.

Try an ice pack when they itch so bad you want to scratch them. It helps temporarily so that you don't scratch yourself raw.

Tecnu works, but for her saltwater works faster... I was pretty surprised actually.
