Point to Point Networking (1-2 miles)

I'm looking at purchasing a property that is on a spit of land about 1-2 miles from the local town area (where DSL is readily available), however it isn't possible to get it to my current location. I've looked at satellite but it has an awful upload speed.

Can anyone recommend the following?

1. A good point to point solution that is alright in an oceanic/foggy environment?
2. Any websites/forums that focus on this area?

I'm looking to spend a few thousand on this project, but certainly not more than $3000.

the problem with satalite isn't the upload speed (for me, at least) as much as the ping.

700ms is a pipedream. i average about 900-1700ms.

no frags to be had on a connection like that!

This place sells Antennas and Wireless Bridge Kits. Though, if you're in a high humidity env, I think you'll do better with 5ghz equip. What is your price range? is this for home or biz use ?

Actually 2.4 Ghz would be "better" however if you setup the link right then fog, humidity, rain etc.. are non issues for either, especially with as short a link as you are looking at. You have clear line of sight from point A to B?
