I have a Point of View gf4 ti4200 with 128mb ram, and dual ramdac which should allow me to have different resolutions on both outputs (i use a dvi->crt converter for the dvi output), on a 19" and an old 15" monitor.
In windows2000's screen properties i only see one monitor, in nView i see both, and am able to select which one i want to use etc. (but nView doesnt support dual resolutions).
I've tried detonator versions 29.90, 29.42, 23.10 and 27.10, swapping monitors doesnt seem to matter either.
Any ideas or things to try are welcome, i heard someone say something about PnP capabilities, im not sure if my Compaq 151FS supports that, and don't know if that really matters either :)

ps: I am able to run both monitors on different vidcards, then win2k does see both of them, currently only sees the one i select in nview :/

;) IMHO it is mostly down to sw settings.

:D Under 'Display Properties', 'Settings', 'Advanced', 'nView'. Standard is 'disabled', 'Clone' will completely copy monitor1 to monitor2 and hence use same res and spanning is the setting to allow an extended desktop. Under 'Display Properties', 'Settings', you need to select each monitor in turn and specify it's driver under the 'Advanced' tab (Standard 1024x768 should do for a 15"), ie don't use 'Default Monitor'. You should have a drop down menu above where you select resolution to choose which monitor you want to alter and then just pull the res slider or click advanced for the refresh rates etc. There are alot of settings and you may have to play around a bit.

:) There are a few ways of disabling nView. You could have deselected it when installing the driver. You may need to go into 'Control Panel' and select 'NVIDIA nView' in there as there are various options including disabling nView. Under 'Desktops' you can enable the 'QuickTweak icon' in the system tray (by the clock). Finally, try using the most recent official (ie non-beta) driver from the manu of your nVidia card.

;) IMHO it's only a hw prob when smoke is coming out of your pc case

Heh ok, thanks a lot for your response so far :)
To clarify some things (u never know if it might help), i never ever get to see 2 monitors in the settings tab of windows' screen props, only in nview i am able to choose monitors, but as we know nview doesnt change res sets. Here are some pics (10k each) to see what i see, and can't see:
1 (nView enabled, spanning)
2 (nView disabled, 1st monitor selected)
3 (nView disabled, 2nd monitor selected)
4 (the only way i see 2 monitors, in nView :/)

I have installed a driver for my 15" monitor now btw, and gone back to detonators 29.42 (the latest driver on the PoV site). I didn't see an option to not install nView, however i have tried disabling it through the control panel (or via the now enabled quicktweak thingy), i have fooled around with its settings (ie enabling spanning, (un)ticking all possibly usefull boxes etc.), but nothing could get me into my beloved 2 monitor setup :)

Now, I must be missing some very important thing here but I can't find what it is. I'm not a complete newbie on pc's (i even work at an helpdesk ), and i think i have tried a lot of settings/setups to see where my problem could be. So please enlighten me with my own stupidity, for I am convinced this should be possible...

;) I would suspect it is your Windows version. I'm using WinXP Pro and it looks as though you are using Win 9x or NT. I would still expect nVidia's drivers to make the necessary changes to modify 'Display Properties', 'Settings' which is what appears to be incorrect. I would expect a drop down box above where it says Colours and Screen Res. When you are selecting the second monitor Windows thinks you just want to change the monitor over rather than use the 2 simultaneously.

:) I would suggest checking Windows Update, and M$ Download Centre for any service packs etc. Other than that you could try contacting your card's manu or nVidia and informing them of your lack of dual output, after all that is part of what you paid for.

;) Other than that it is always a good idea to use the latest official drivers for all of your hw, inc BIOS, rem to check both chipset and manu websites, the manu may have compat info.

Im mailing with PoV support now, if they give me a solution i can do myself, ill post it here for others with the same problems... :)
