Point of Sale (POS) software suggestions/advice

My brother in law is opening a new deli/cafe and asked me for some advice on some POS software.

He bought the actual hardware already (IBM SurePOS 500-xx1 and 4840-xx1), which seems to be a common setup, but it did not come with any software.

He has talked to some companies and they're asking 15/20k for setup for just three terminals. So he is looking to see if I can help him out a bit (I helped setup a POS system at a theatre when I was a manager there).

So, anyone have any good POS software suggestions?

Thanks!

Chiming in since I doubt you'll get much feedback from this forum. I've asked in the past but didn't get any help.

This requires a lot of research and you generally want to focus on the software you want to use as the starting point. This is due to certain software only being compatible with a list of hardware...Dell's POS systems use/come with restaurantpro which doesn't get good reviews.

Aldelo was one I settled on as being relatively low cost for the features offered. Shop around but it's a place to start.
