I must preface by saying I only just came upon the idea when I heard a car alarm going on outside and with my heart sped up a bit I ran out to check on what car it was. That's silly. So I need a pager. I think they can be bought fairly cheap but are they worth using? The maxima already has a stock car alarm, for what it's worth. Car alarms are fairly silly though but pagers seem like just the ticket for when you wake up 3:30 AM and it goes off.

So what is a good one and are they easy to install? Good range...?

doesn't your car have Xenon Headlights ?

I heard a lot of maximas are being vandalized for the Xenon Headlight assembly~ ( bulb, ballast, housing )

I dont think you have to be too paranoid tho~..

just watch where you park your car etc... and you should be fine

dont you have the 2002 ? ?

I believe Xenon Headlights are standard on your car ... and a lot of maximas were being vandalized for the headlights .. as it's goods that would sell well on the streets~

Oh, I had the impression you had a house:) My bad. Don't feel bad, someone tried to break into my Accord when it was parked in the driveway of our house. Luckily they were idiots and didn't get in.

Maxima's come with HD now? Hmmn do the new Passat's come with HD?

I'd also like to know the answer to Skoorbie's question.

Just be glad you didn't buy America's #1 stolen wheels, Honda Accord.

And another thing...we cannot really hear it when it goes off! The only reason I heard it last night was because I was standing by the front door organizing shoes!

Why go for cheap? This is protecting a rather large investment afterall. If I were you, I'd go find myself a reputable shop and get an Ungo installed. While a good pro can make a crappy system work like a really good one, the fact is its still a crappy system.

The biggest problem to most car alarm systems is that they're proprietary. This means that if you have a Nissan car alarm, you'll need to speak with the Nissan dealer to find what options you have, or find a way to tap into the car alarm's output (if you're headlights flash, there's a circuit that does this)... You'll have to find that circuit and maybe connect a 3rd party transmitter to it. The problem with this is cost. You'd be looking at $50 minimum for the equipment and if you want a neat job done, you'd probably want to pay a professional....and that would be another $45 or so to install it. :(

Check with some local car stereo shops and see if they have a listing of products that would meet your needs and maybe even replace your existing car alarm with an upgraded module...then you can get all the other features like remote horn/remote starting/remote coffee brewing...whatever. Those will run anywhere from $149-300 depending on what you get and where you go.

Any experiences with this? I don't really need it to interface with the alarm per se - almost it woudl be better if it didn't, so that a crook could not simply unhook my alarm (since I know they can do that) and thus kill this thing off. I'd rather have it on a seperate system...

I'm going to talk to the guys at Car Toys and see if/how that could work with my current Clifford Matrix 2 car alarm.

If they can do it, I wonder how much installation would be.
