Point and shoot camera w iPad compatible video

I am looking for a point and shoot camera that takes video in an iPad compatible format so it can be easily imported with the camera connection kit. Any suggestions?

Just use the iPad itself? Or an iPhone ?

This is a present for someone and I want to get them something smaller than the iPad, and better quality photos/movies than an iPhone.

Pretty much all the Canon P&S cams create quicktime compatible video files. I'd expect they should work just fine.
