What's a good point and shoot for under $150? Seems to be tons of cameras now in this price range.

I would like it to be able to do 1080p and have a good amount of optical zoom if possible.

Instead of the A1400, step up to the ELPH 130 for $100:

Real Image Stabilization (not just the "Digital" fakery) is worth it. Overall nicer camera too. I've got an older model in this range, and it's awesome. For $100 my money is where my mouth is; this is absolutely the all-around, pocketable P&S that I would buy today if I needed one.

http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-COOLPIX-...digital+camera Full HD 1080P, 30*optical zoom; but its price is a little higher than your budget; considering its performance and its consumers' feedback, I think this digital camera is good option.

refurb and way too big. that looks like fixed lens DSLR to me. looking for something i can drop in my jacket pocket.

was looking at the Panasonic Lumix ZS20 on amazon for $162.

thought you might like to know, tech.woot has a refurb panasonic zs-25 for ~$135

I don't trust refurbs. I've had 1 instance of bad luck and 1 instance of good luck so far. I found that costco has the same camera WITH 16 GB card and case for $179.99 (ends today). I ordered that instead. a little more than I wanted to spend but I think I'll be happy. hell, i probably could have been happy with 1 of the cheaper cameras but i'd probably be wondering if i should have spent a little more to get a better camera.
