I'm planning on expanding my network. I've been looking over networking standards and PoE seems to be the most well suited for me. Has anyone any experience with this:

The device that I'd like to connect this to is an XBOX and eventually a Wii. I guess what I'm asking is if this works with the xbox/wii without the need to install drivers....

PoE is generally used for WAPs and VoIP phones. I don't think they can carry enough juice for a full-fledged game console, let alone two.

And no, the consoles don't need drivers. I'm pretty sure the Xbox has ethernet integrated and the Wii supports wireless networking.

Well I mean assuming the xbox is on and plugged in would the Dlink PoE work to supply the internet. I guess I'll send an email to dlink too...

PoE is nothing you need to get your xbox on live. In fact it could even cause you problems (although unlikely these days)

Power over Ethernet supplies a small amount of power over ethernet for devices like phones, wireless APs, cameras, etc. Really not needed in the home yet. So any router will do what you need.

Thanks! But do I need any drivers for this. Will it work with an Xbox out of the box. The cheapest device I can find that can get the job done is: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833110001

This isn't just restricted to the slingbox is it?
