I'm looking for a recommendation for a podcast client for my ipad. I've used the pre installed app (just by default) and overcast (recommended and talked about on podcasts I listen to) but neither quite do everything I want.

I use Podcast Republic on my phone but they don't make an ios version. I like this because its got pretty much every customisable option available and I've got it tweaked the way I like it. None of the ios versions I've looked at order their podcasts in the same way or offer anywhere near the level of customisability.

What do you all use for podcasts and why do you like them?

I've heard good things about PocketCasts. I believe it is cross-platform so you can synch between devices, even if you have different OSs.

I've tried overcast but it has a few niggles that I want to work round.

I can't find a way to reorder my list of podcasts, they're always alphabetical and I want them to display podcast with newest episode at the top of the list.

Overcast doesn't resume playback on bluetooth reconnect, but does for wired headphones.

I'd like a way to queue episodes without adding them to a specific playlist.

Haven't tried it yet, but downcast keeps coming up as the one to have if you want lots and lots of controls over your podcasts.

Overcast is free, but like you said has some niggles as there are almost no options. Awesome if you can live within its restrictions.

Pocketcasts is the other most recommended one. UI is slick and its biggest claim to fame is cross platform and great web UI so you can listen from your PC as well.

I'll investigate downcast. I aminterested in pocketcasts just for running it on windows, android and ios but a colleague of mine didn't get on with it.
