pocketpc usb connectivity

I have a casio em500 pocketpc, newly acquired. My problem is that I am unable to link my desktop with the pocket pc using usb connection. I have installed the latest driver (activesync 3.1)....windows 98 version 1 is being used for the desktop.

does the computer recognize the device? i had this issue when I initially connected my jornada to my pc. well, i rebooted the sucker and re-attached my unit to the desktop. i heard the little beep and it worked. i know there aren't any drivers for the pda unit itself, but make sure your usb port is working correctly. did u have something connected to it before?

i also realize that my web cam was connected to my one usb port, and turns out the pc kept identifying my pda as the webcam. well, that didn't work. so i removed the webcam, and reconnected my pda to the same port (yea. i shouldve used my other usb port), and rebooted the machine and it worked to perfection!
