PocketPC Purchase

I recently fell upon about $600.00 and am in the market for a PocketPC device. I have two friends that have 3600 series iPaq devices, so I'm leaning toward getting a 3700 series one so we can share peripherals and maybe I can pick up some hand-me-downs. However, I am trying to find not only a really good deal on one, but I am also trying to find one that comes highly recommended for it's features. I would like to be able to pick up a few accessories with any money left over if possible. Let the suggestions begin!

Audiovox Maestro $299 (rebranded Toshiba)

The only difference is, this has only 32MB ram vs. Toshibas 64MB. Battery life may be an issue...read the thread.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Xscale machines to come out, like the Fujitsu Pocket LOOX. They should stir up the PDA market.

Well if you can hold on to that money for just a wee bit, there are X-Scale processor PocketPCs coming out in the next few months. X-Scale is the next generation StrongARM so it will be fully compatable. The significant benefits should be faster speed and more battery life.

Anybody got any info on the X-scale stuff as far as vendors and product release timelines? I don't want to be waiting for another 4 months to get one.

Fujitsu Pocket LOOX has officially launched and is supposed to be available by the end of May.
