From the device?

Axim X5 400MHz if you must know. No, it's not mine.

There are 2 associations for computers that no longer exist - and for lord knows what reason, it won't create a new one, so I figure I'll go and delete these. If absolutely neccessary, I can do a hard reset.

Aren't the associations stored mostly on the host PC? Of course, MS might have gone all backasswards in the latest iteration of their OS ... again. :p

The device also lists associations in the ActiveSync options. There appears to be a limit of two

Two? Boy, there's a forward-looking engineer ... :p

I'd say just hard reset it now. Without a device in front of me I've forgotten the navigation/control applets and which ones to poke around in.

And no, this isn't a case of RTFM - this kind of thing only enters my hands when 2-3 previous gurus have fallen. It appears that synchronisation is not working at all - the device sits there waiting for the computer to transmit data, which it never does. The computer is totally unaware that the device is waiting. It sees the connection but no sync ever takes place.

Well, I would, except now I can't backup the data. I get the feeling that the ASync install is fscked on the PC-side (Hey, I didn't do it - it probably is. Nothing ever works around here unless I do it.)

Bump. Gave it back to it's owner and told him to hard reset. In case that doesn't work, ideas?
