PocketPC - how do you add monthly tasks?

I have an Axim X5 and I have monthly checklists that I run through. The checklist items are stuff that I do at different times during the month, whenever I get to them, so they're not on any particular day. Is there a way of setting stuff up for monthly and perhaps weekly checklists?

Assuming you are using Windows Mobile 2003, (which I am), you can add monthy tasks but only on the same day each month.

You cannot make any kind of checklist or to-do list unless you get some third-party software.

Scouting around on Google for PocketPC software will yield many results.
Most of the list programs I have seen are really cheap.
