Pocket-Tach: Anyone have experience with them?

I've been looking for a good way to test (for RPM) my micro motors (the motors are the size of cellphone vibrator motors).

These tiny motors are for powering the Micro R/C cars (Bit Char-G, Microsizers, Zipzaps, what have you) and I wanted to test for actual RPMs.

Thanks for any advice and help!

I don't know about pocket tach's, but I have a tachometer that operates by measuring vibrations from an engine, it's used on small engines such as lawnmowers and weed whackers.

thanks for the reply Roger,

Can you give any more details about your Tach? If it could work at a TINY scale (these motors I'm testing are VERY small) I could be interested.

thanks much.

Probably not, since an electric motor does not make the type of vibrations that an internal combustion engine does.

True, that tach sounds like it works on the back and forth motion of the piston, so i think that really only will work on a very simple (and maybe only 1 cylinder) motor.
