I'm in the market for a pocket pc. The HP ipaqs are the ones i'm mostly considering (due to good reviews). The following is the various things i plan on doing with it (in no particular order):

1) scheduling, contacts, and other organizing stuff
2) reading ebooks
3) possibly some mp3 and movie watching (all this type of data will be stored on sd cards)
4) email, web browsing, messaging
5) some word processing

i'm basically deciding between the ipaq h4155 and h5555...having integrated wireless & size is important to me since i will be carrying it around often and would like to just be able to slip it into my pocket. (wireless is why i went with the h4155 instead of the h2215) the only thing that the h5555 has that the h4155 doesn't is an extra 16mb ROM and extra 64mb RAM but i would be sacrificing an extra $100 and the h5555 is also sligthly larger. I guess my question is, is the whole 64 or 128 mb or RAM will be used only for ram and not storage, is it really necessary to get the 128? What kinds of things could I need more than 64mb of RAM for?

well considering you're going to keep your mp3's and movies on sd cards.. 64mb should matter.. unless you're like me and want to play a bunch of games.

from the list you made it wouldn't matter for you. But just remember after you get it, if there is a chance you'll be installing a bunch of apps or playing a bunch of games (especially if you're getting an emulator). you might want to consider more memory...

also good choice in going with HP, they're the most reliable from my experience.

forgot to mention... ways you'll get to 128....

I used to use my pda as a removable hdd (and also a card reader but that doesn't matter right now). So more memory for me was a plus.

that is true...i never thought about what would happen if i installed a bunch of stuff on it...i wish there was a 128 with a smaller screen and therefore a smaller pda :(
