I was looking for a way to get cheap transportation pretty soon and was thinking about buying another trail bike from the 60's like I had a while ago. Then I saw these pocket bike things, but does anyone have one? I'd just like to know how reliable they are, do you need a liscense, what kind of MPG u get, and whats the difference between the brands..

pocket bikes are not street legal (no headlight, no tail light - less than 3 feet tall). So you cant use it on the street. People do use them but its not worth it.
The bikes (depending on the model) can reach 60mph while you sit less than 2 feet off the ground. I have tried riding on of those, its a fun bike to learn cornering.

But for a commute, I would rather get a street legal dual sport or a street motorcycle.

I can't afford one right now, but am in a contest to win one. good_guy is right, they are not street legal. They are a blast thou. When I do get one I'll probably just use it in empty parking lots and the streets around my moms house. They've got some good twisties to ride that thing on.

Link for the Lazy.

D33pt> Well while they arent street legal they are track legal. You can ride them on teh side walk though (if I am right). You can ride it in your nighbourhood if you want to .. just make sure the cops dont see you.

In general the safety requirements for the bigger bikes should also be used for the small stuff. I like the idea that you can take your bike in the trunk of your car, take it out and ride it.. :)
