Pocket bike newbie, help a brotha' out!

My apartment will be about a mile away from school. It's a pretty quiet road, so i shouldn't have to deal with traffic while i'm on the wee-bike. I wanted something just a bit bigger than the smallest bikes around. Anyways, i've been looking at these:

bike 1

bike 2

Are there any others that exist out there that might be a little more solid for 100-200 more? I'd pay the difference if the quality was much better. What do you guys think?

Another thing i'm worried about, if i have it chained up at school, can they still pull start those things without the key?

Interesting.. What times will you be on the road and will you be wiling to do clown tricks?

Other then that, get scooter man, damn.

WTF those things are tiny! Never seen anything like that before. They're cool, but kinda strange to me.

For the most part, most of them are legal. you need headlights, taillights, and certain speed requirements (under 50cc), and a helmet.

No offense but if you pull up to your school in that...well...don't expect too many broads heh. Think going on foot would look better. Then again its so small you could fit it in your locker I bet.

Seriously if you use this to get to school and back I guarantee people will laugh at you. I rode mini bikes a few months ago and even though they were a lot of fun I looked like a complete jackass riding it. Everyone looks like a jackass riding one, which is alright when a bunch of people are doing it but if you're the only one.........

a mile isn't far, buddy. Get a bicycle

If it's really one mile, even a bicycle isn't worth the trouble. Just leave 20 minutes earlier than normal and walk it at a slow pace.

It would be fun to tool around on, but I don't think I'd ever consider one for a pratical application.

I dont know where you get the Legal part..

Just because its got head lights, tail lights and indicators can do 30mph doesnt mean its street legal.. try licenceing it.

I doubt its street legal.. even so its too tiny to be street legal.

I wouldnt want to be riding on the street on that with a helmet.. i rather get a bicycle.. its only a mile.

Wait.. you're actually using it for transportation? 😕

Dork.

Get a scooter.

I'm fully aware that i'll look like a turd riding that thing around, but who cares. Over here a few of my friends ride their bikes on the weekend, a little mini-bike gang if you will.

And i have checked the DMV's rules on stuff like this, it's too small to be considered any real motorcycle. It's just like an electric scooter. So long as you have your gear and all the aforemention accessories, you're good to go.

And i do have a bike, this is just something a little more fun 😀

i work at a motorcycle shop and we've had both of those and several other of the "cheap" pocket bikes... if you weigh 150-250 dont expect to go more then 15-20mph on it.... "real" pocket bikes start around $2500 and do 45mph the other thing is - what you gonna do when you get to class?
