Hi,

I just bought a new PNY Verto GeForce4 MX440-SE for my old computer since I found it dirt cheap (around $25 after rebate). When I installed it, before the POST finishes, it gives me this:

ERROR
Resource Conflict - Allocation Error Static Node #01
ERROR
Resource Conflict - Allocation Error Static Node #0D
ERROR
Resource Conflict - Allocation Error Static Node #0B

Then, it gives me the option to go on or go into my CMOS settings. I tried playing around with things in the CMOS, but with no avail. If I go on, the screen's just blank and there's no activity on the computer. I'm guessing this refers to my IRQ addresses. Those addresses correspond to my keyboard for IRQ1, my old video card and an NEC PCI to USB Host Controller for IRQ11, and the numeric data processor for IRQ13.

Here are my system specs (it's pretty old):
It's a Sony PCV-E308DS
PII 450MHz
256MB RAM
Integrated Matrox Mistique G200 2X AGP Video
Sony CPD-220VS 17" Monitor
Windows XP Professional

The weird thing is that if I unplug the monitor and boot up, the system boots fine. I found out it wasn't any specific monitor that's the problem since I hooked up my other one and it did the same thing. Randomly, when I plug int he monitor after the POST, it'll start working like it should. When I reboot or shut down, though, the same problem occurs

I can't seem to disable or uninstall my integrated video card and on the Sony support site, they said to just leave it and use it for dual monitor, but they don't tell you how to disable it. Disabling/Uninstalling it in the Device Manager does nothing. It automatically comes back when I reboot. The New Hardware prompt doesn't even show up, it just automatically comes back.

I've also tried moving the card around different PCI slots. That didn't do anything but screw up all my drivers for everythign else.

I think this is all I tried if I can remember correctly. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
TaFFeR

Normally in BIOS you can disable onboard video on most motherboards.I would consider a reformat and clean install of WinXP.

I'll try the reformat, but I don't really think it'll work since this happens even before the OS starts to load. Remember, this happens before the POST finishes. Thanks anyway though.

typically in the bios there is an option to reset your ESCD (i think thats right) set it to enabled and it should relase and reassign all irq's...also, regaurding disableing the onboard video, try to find a jumper on the mainboard that says enable/disable onboard vga..jumper settings are commonly printed on the mainboard in white. each jumper is labeled as JPx (x = a number i.e. jp6) so look for a chart (best description i can think of) that reads similar to this JPx = enable/disable vga.. 1-2 =enabled, 3-4 = disabled...then find the designated jumper..this is a very vauge discription so i apologize if i just confused you lol...also if u cant find somthing in the bios or on the jumpers.. u can disable it in your OS thru the device manager..OR look for a bios update from the mainboard manufacturer website.. u can get instructions on how to update your bios..an updated bios may include the option to enable/disable the onboard vga

Thanks for you all of your help, but I've already tried resetting the BIOS and the ESCD and it still hasn't worked yet. I'll look for the jumper later though, but I don't remember ever running across it out of the millions of times I've stared at my mother board. I've already tried disbling it through Devince Manager, too, and it still didn't work. I can't upgrade my BIOS because Sony shows nothing in their support page about upgrading the BIOS. What a weird problem this is...

Again, thanks for the help anyway.

wow man .. that is a pretty nice problem there...i can only think of one more suggestion (though it might be useless)..FIRST pull out all the memory and reinsert each stick by itself.. then attempt booting...inserting another stick after each successful boot...if that doesnt help also try pull EVERYTHING out of the system except the memory and CPU and the vidcard..see if it starts...if so the vidcard is having a conflict with another card..insert them back in one by one..booting into windows each time and installing the drivers..if the problem reoccurs after instailling a certain card.. remove it and see if the problem leaves..if it does then we have indeed found our culprate..if not then your problem is beyond my knowlegde and i apologiez for not being able to help out..

i have a proggie that should help ya identify the proper bios update for your system..just email me if u would like to give it a try ill be glad to send it to ya
