PNY Verto Geforce 6800GT for $340 plus tax

CompUSA is having online sale now. PNY 6800GT in stock for $340 plus tax after 15% off code. Good deal for GT. Thought you guys might be interested.

Ok so $340 * 1.06 (say 6% tax in Michigan) => $360

For $378 on eWiz you can get quieter Leadtek with 2 games.

PNY has stock cooling and no games.

The amount of problems I've heard with people who owned PNY cards....makes me want to stay away from them.

I always thought PNY was pretty good...*shrugs*

I might have to go that route since the whole $200 for the 6800NU is a load of crap. The offer isn't good for online shopping, and each store is limited to a VERY low number of cards that they can sell. Plus, there is only one store within an hour's driving distance of me, and they haven't had any in for a good few weeks now. I called them today and they don't plan on getting more until the day after the sale ends. So that's just a huge freaking scam in my eyes. :|

I wouldn't take a PNY if it was given to me for free. Every PNY I've ever seen had issues...one friend's 5200 had a fan that would scream like a banshee until you whacked the case on the side, another friend's PNY 4400 can't ever boot Windows XP; he has to use 2000 because the PNY crashes XP constantly. My old LeadTek 4200 never had a single issue from the day I put it in the case.

PNY is just as good as all the rest. I bought the 6800GT when it came out and has been just PERFECT ever since. Great card!

Agreed. I got mine for $301 when these cards first came out. It was a great buy OC's past Ultra speeds and does a great job in games. I recently put an NV Silencer 5 on and its inaudible now. I love this card.

PNY recently changed thier warrenty's too. 3 year instead of the product cycle. Of cource my warrenty is void so it doesn't help me any but it does to to no OCing community.

I have nothing but good things to say about PNY as well.

XFX is the nvidia company i would stay away from. RMA'd a 6800nu and a 6800 GT. Sold them both and will never purchase another XFX product again.

I think you can get a bad card from any company, and I don't think XFX or PNY even build their own cards, do they? PNY used to MSI cards, and both the XFX and PNY look the same as every other reference board.

I have a XFX 6800GT, it has worked flawlessly from day one and Coolbits detects 408/1100 as my "optimal". (although I've never run it above spec)

PNY cards I've had (4-5) have all been great as well.

After having a lemon Dodge RAM I can appreciate the sentiment though, I'll never own a Dodge again.

Understandable that your steering clear from PNY given your experiences and 2 of your friends.
I on the other hand have had the exact opposite experience as you have. I and many of my friends own/owned PNY cards. I only had a problem with 1 card from them in all these years and it was a fan failure on a GeForce4MX420 PCI. That's it, no other problems. So, it's all relative. PNY will have my money again, but most likely won't get yours. I currently own a PNY6800GT and a Leadtek 6800nu. Luv' em both.
