TLDR: PNY sent old (defective) ram back to customer as "warranty replacement."
I made the mistake of buying PNY XLR8 8gb (2 sticks of 4gb) DDR3 ram kit about a year ago and now one of the stick is dead. PC wouldn't boot at all and beeps indicating memory error, replace it with another stick and system boot just fine.
Simple, I should print the receipt since it was bought on Amazon and RMA the ram since it have lifetime warranty right? Simple enough.
So after completing the RMA form that they have online and received the RMA approval email, I packaged both of them up since they specifically stated in the email that both sticks must be returned along with the printed receipt from Amazon. Cool, easy enough.
Paid for postage out of my own pocket and sent it to them. Wait for about a week and I get a confirmation that the replacement ram is on it's way back to me along with the tracking number.
Went to one of their UPS partner location because for some reason, these clowns sent it with signature required. Got the package home and opened it up only to find that it's the exact same defective ram that I sent to them. Only worse, one of the stick is missing the c-clips that's holding the heat spreader.
Installed the ram and confirmed, yep, PNY sent me my old defective ram back as a "warranty replacement." LOL
PNY, stay classy.
