PNY Rocks, RMA'd a Ti4600 and got back an FX5900 :)

The only problem is that my current motherboard wont boot with an agp8x card installed 🙁

They sent me the complete contents of the retail box with the bundle, dvi/vga adapter and power cable.

RMA upgrades rule!

heh, i had the same situation: Ti4600 went bad after about a year. So under PNY's lifetime warranty they replaced it with a 5600 (non-ultra)--basically a crappier card than what I had.

you're lucky man.

Long as we're throwing craps, maybe I'll RMA that Quadro of mine and see if I get a Quadro FX back. 😀

Edit - RMAs are for defective products, not for upgrades. Besides, you wanted an excuse to upgrade your mobo anyways, right? 😀

- M4H

Why does M4H seem like the morality police these days? Was that a new year's resolution or something?

Wait! I wasnt saying that I RMA'd it to get an upgrade, it was a surprise, my Ti4600 died so I sent it back.

When I said RMA upgrades I meant like with hard drives, how you sometimes get a bigger faster newer drive, I recently RMA'd an IBM 60GXP 46gb and got back a 180GXP (?) 82gb drive.

And, I do have an intel board with 3.0ghz HT chip that I was going to get around to assembling sooner or later so I guess now is a good time for that 🙂

I am having a bit of trouble identifying the model of this fx5900 since I cant install it yet, it is a 128mb card with a heatsink that looks like the ultra but doesnt have anything on it that tells me the model, it came with a three disk edition of "Splinter Cell" , an "S" video cable, a power splitter and a DVI/VGA adapter as well as the manual and driver cd.

I RMA'd my 24x burner awhile ago from NewEgg and they sent me back a 52x one...that was pretty nice of them  for NewEgg

I just had a twin-head (dual VGA) 5200 die Thursday.

What are the odds they return me a single head video card? I was able to go to Best Buy and buy another one yesterday (for my work computer, down time is not an option). But now I am going to RMA the original one.

All done, just finished swapping the motherboard and activating windows over the phone.

Intel mobo, 3ghz HT, gig pc4000 in dual channel mode, fx5900, now I gotta figure out how to make windows see the hyperthreading thing, I think I have to use my xp pro upgrade cd, I have xp home now.

5200's are still being produced so you will get another 5200

4600's are not being produced anymore thats why he got a 5900

Nope. Home supports Hypertheading. You need to change your computer to ACPI Multiprocessor PC in device manager.

Thats what I thought, but there were no options for multi cpu systems, I read a few threads here and then googled it and the first hit described my problem and said to boot from the xp cd and say "NO" to repair using the console and then to repair instead of install on the next screen, two different types of repair I guess, I did that and when I got back to windows there it was "ACPI Multi Processor System" 😀

Let me help you out. I'll trade my perfectly working Ti4200 for your defective FX5900. As a token of goodwill, I'll pay for shipping.
