I've not been terribly impressed by PNY personally. That said they aren't complete crap either. To me they are kinda low end of mid grade

That is their version of the reference gtx670 design. PNY, markets most of the Nvidia workstation cards. They are nothing fancy but I'd say solid. That card may be louder than a dual fan internal exhaust custom model. That's the nature of blower exhaust which push air through the card out the back.

It should be fine if you're not planning on a top-end overclock. If you keep it stock it should stay fairly quiet. I've got a Galaxy reference and it only gets noisy during heavy gaming sessions.

I've seen PNY's version go on sale as low as $280 with free games. I'd wait a bit for a deal if you're considering jumping.

Like NOtty said they make reference boards. Not really one iota of difference among reference manufacturers. That said, they occasionally show up on Newegg for dirt cheap.

I think i'll just pay a little more and get a Galaxy with a custom cooler.

A little more? Dayumn. BTW that is a Gigabyte, better than Galaxy IMO.
