So I want to get the new 8800GTX (I do GPGPU programming and I want those NV OpenGL extension real bad) and I've been checking up on the price. Most places like newegg.com are selling the 8800GTXs for something between $650 to $670, including the PNY model. What I don't understand is, why should I buy from newegg (I'm in CA, at the moment, so I have to pay taxes for stuff from newegg and Fry's) when I can get it from PNY's website for $600 (if I want to get the PNY model, that is)? Is there any reason not to get it from PNY's website (unavailability, maybe) instead?

I would say it is cheaper there because PNY makes more money selling it that way. :p

Who cares why it's cheaper, just pull the trigger!! :p

Right now there is no difference between the partners besides the sticker. These first batch G80's were made by nVidia and shipped to their partners for retail. PNY, EVGA, Asus, BFG, XFX, etc. all are the same thing so just find the cheapest one and *bang*, tap that "Add to cart" button real good. :D
