PNY GeForce4 MX440SE at Frys for $29.99 AR

I need to update my video card. HP computer has integrated video and sound card. I saw the PNY GeForce4 MX440SE in today's Frys for $79.99 - $50 rebate. Any advices if this card is any good, better prices elsewhere w/o the hassle of rebate, or other stores that would PM.

Make sure you have a AGP slot as alot of those integrated type systems only have PCI slots. That is a great price for that card and I don't think it can be beat since once you get below the $90 mark the only thing that drops a decent video card's price usually is a rebate.

Stupid question of the day: what's an MX440SE? An MX440 with 8x agp and higher clocks?

I remember the original MX440 was pretty similar in features and performance to a Geforce 2 ultra (remember those guys that used to be $399?)

ooops....

this is for both pci and agp version...at least in dallas/fort worth area....this is a 64 mg ddr card...

I bought and returned it to Frys. This card sucks! It can't even run Unreal Awakening. I ended up purchasing an ATI 7500 for $49.99 -$20.00 rebate from Bestbuy. It's much better and even has DVI.

Yep, this is a VERY weak budget card, as is the 7500. I'd recommend looking for a cheaper end ti4200 if you're wanting cheap performance.

yeah really, that's a good price (49.99-20 rebate)
