Anyways i had a pny geforce4 mx 440. I thought the 2d was the best i'd ever seen on an nvidia so far (i've had matrox, ati and 3dfx cards, and its probably on par with the 3dfx). Anyways, i got new bnc cables for my 21" nanao. this monitor is 9 years old but at the time it cost $2500 and well its made pretty high spec.

so i try the new cable, and its sharper definitely. but the white would sporadically change to red white from blue white (if you dont understand what this means, its the kelvin temperature of white used, blue spectrum or red, blue is "brighter" to the eye) . Oddly this didnt happen with a normal cable, only the bnc one possibly my bnc cable sucks (its was like $8, i didnt spring for the $50 pro ones). anyways, this was annoying so i finally tried the integrated sis 650 video on my motherboard. Apparently sis puts a 375mhz ramdac on this. Amazingly it actually was sharp, and i didnt have the wierd white problems. The geforce you could see a slight ghosting on some vertical lines, say on anandtech being displayed in IE (on the left edge usually).

Anyways the sis 650 can play warcraft 3 kinda , but it looks really dark, and jedi knight 2 is choppy at 640x480 x16. Hopefully the radeon 8500 that is coming in will fix that and still have 2d as good as the integrated video (i'm still amazed the integrated is so good).

I feel kinda bad now, as i own 20 times as much nvidia stock as i do ATI, i hope the nasdaq gods dont punish me for this.
