I find myself wanting to get a 512MB card over a 256MB card just for that feeling of feeling it'll do better with MMORPG's with a lot to store... maybe it's not the case. I hate disk swapping, though:)

I picked up a 7900gs the last time BB ran this deal and I am very impressed with it. Far better than my 6600GT! (and Oblivion looks amazing)

I got one of these last time to replace a 6800. After not being able to find a PCI-E and socket 478 mobo anywhere (to upgrade my secondary), decided to just upgrade my primary to go SLI. Mainly hoping that SLI will help out with sustaining my monitors fill rate better than a single card (dell 24" widescreen).

You cannot beat the 7900gs for $150... even though the x1950 is faster it is not $50 faster.

Try your mail box if you have a Best Buy Reward Zone card.

I got one of these the last round and LOVE it. If you're debating between cards in this price range, this is a fantastic deal.

I got one last time too and I agree, it's a great card for the money.

I did the 12% off reward zone coupon and had an unused $5 reward certificate which made the end price $126.99 before tax and no rebates!

Check again in a couple days for the coupon.. it seems to be a recurring deal for the Reward Zone. ;)

Looks like a hot deal! Is it worth the $150 to upgrade from an eVGA 7600GT CO? I'm playing NWN2 now and will be playing Oblivion soon...

I got one of these at CompUSA last time around (after pricematching Best Buy) and have been happy with it. The fan noise is a little much as it turns on at strange times, but overall, its solid.

I'm looking for a dual-DVI card for a dual monitor setup; I don't play games, I just want something that will perform well for tv/dvd and standard multitasking. I can't decide if I should get this card, or something with more memory but a lesser GPU like this card.

512MB "cheap" cards always use POS memory - with this card, at least you'll have flexibility.

The X1950 Pro has true VIVO capabilities, though, which might help you out quite a bit more.

Don't worry, the reward zone is free to join now. The last time this was on sell I took a printed coupon to the store and signed upfor the zone at the register while checking out.

For gaming the superior GPU will outperform a lesser one with more RAM. For your purposes however, you can get away with just about anything. Indeed I think you're aiming too high, unless Vista Aero is in your future (I'm still not sure what that needs for best performance).

Actually - @ 176, the X1950 is a no-brainer. Better picture quality, significantly faster than a stock GS, and just better overall performance as well. It's also hotter, noisier, and uses more power.

It really depends upon what you want and your existing hardware. My nForce4 board and the 7900 GS (BB @ $132 about 3 weeks ago) are working extremely well together. I'm happy with this combination at the price point I paid for them.

Would this card be too loud for a HTPC?

Also, BB will also send you coupons if you shop there often, even if you're not a Reward Zone member. I'm not a RZ member and I get coupons from them at least once a month. However, I'd only get to use the 10% off coupon and not the 12% one, which is still good, imo. The coupons basically take care of the taxes for me.

For $176 id go for the X1950Pro. Has ViVo and is a much better gaming card.

Both are damn good though.
