Another thing I was wondering is how did all you guys send in the rebate? I mean if i remove the UPC sticker it'll void the warranty wouldn't it?

My CUSA rebate form requires proof of purchase cut from the box, not UPC.

I also have both versions of the PNY 6800. The early version was unlockable w/RivaTuner (but the locked pipelines on mine were bad) and displayed 12/5 in RivaTuner. The newer version was not unlockable and showed 12/6 in RT.

The analog output quality on the newer card seems considerably improved over the old model. (I had 2 BFG 6800's and they, like the early PNY, had unsatisfactory analog output compared to my ATI and old FX NV cards.) DVI out on all of these 6800's is excellent, so I suspect issues w/some part(s) in the digital-to-analog conversion process.

The issue with unlocking the new PNY 6800 cards has been fixed. I also brough a 6800 on Black friday, and was unable to unlock the extra pipes or vp. ivatuner 15.3(should be out in late december according to teh author) will fix the issue.

we discussed it here at Anandtech in this PNY 6800 Thread

and the guru3d forum thread with the fix is Here, fix comes up around page 15 or so

you can run rivatuner with the exe switches to test, but the correct rvatuner implementaion will be out later.

What I WOULD be interested in knowing is the labels on the memory chips and GPU's of both cards. I'd be interesting to know if they changed RAM or the stepping of the GPU.

Picked up a pny 6800 at frys yesterday they are price matching comp usa it is the new style with the white molex. I has a gpu lot number on the back of the card 178it00b300, if that helps .
