I just got back from staples and love the mistakes they make, gave me a 7200 Maxtor for the price of a 5400, well anyway I saw more PNY cdr's 50 pk for 14.95 and I still think there is a rebate out there for $15.

You might want to check on the rebates expiration dates.
Mine expired on 8/31/2K.

I was just down at Best Buy and they got the 50pk of PNY CD-rs for $17.99 and there is a Best Buy rebate for $10, bringing it down to $7.99, which is an awesome deal. I picked one up!

(They don't include jewel cases though, not like they would though...)

You need a Plextor burner and then you'll never make those shiny coasters. I personally think that the quality of the CD burner counts more than the quality of the CD-R. Take for instance my friend who burns coasters with just about any CD-R brand while using his Smart&Friendly drive. No wonder they went out of business...

So Smart & Friendly drives are POS? I thought they were good.
The HPs are decent though, right?

80min or 74? Online or in-store only?

I've burned nearly an entire 50-spindle of these PNYs in my HP9110i burner without a single coaster...now my desk is stained from all the drinks I've set on it :(

There is no such thing as a "Smart & Friendly" CDRW :)
Each is a rebadged CDRW from some other manufacturer so there is considerable performance variations with the "name brand". I have a 6x4x24x S&F drive that was made by Ricoh and has performed extremely well - the only coasters were the ones I made when learning how to work the software. Lark
