PNI RX 5000 Radar Laser Detector with Digital Compass LCD $29.95

radartest.com is not a reputable review site. they have monetary ties to one of the radar companies (though I forget which).

Well... just took the plunge. Kind of a hasty decision but when I first looked, quantity was 98. Within 5 minutes, quanitity jumped to 48 and quickly to 8 left. So... I did it. Hope it is good. I generally trust reviews on Amazon.

Interesting... Every time I refresh the page, the quantity remaining alternates between 94 and 98.

LOL - guess that's what I get for being one of the six people left who use Netscape. 😛

Funny, I just downloaded Netscape 7 last night; had'nt used it/looked at it for years - it looks pretty cool! Gonna run with it for a while; OT I know, but does anyone know if there's a way of simulating the time-saving IE function of hitting CTRL + ENTER to automatically enter the "WWW" and ".COM" in Netscape addresses? 😕

I have one. It's not bad. Usually detects the cops before I see them. I wish I could shut off X-band detection though.

Wouldn't it be better to buy from Amazon that offers the free PNI V600 Vehicle/Handheld Compass as well, then PM to Buy.com?

Amazon doesn't PM.

The description says "Other features include a VG-2 sensor, which alerts you to the presence of radar-detector detectors, and Safety Warning System alerts regarding road hazards, emergency vehicles, and train crossings. " Does anyone have experience with the "Warning System alerts regarding road hazards, emergency vehicles, and train crossings." What does that feature actually do and is it worth it?

😉

The hazard warning feature on my talking Cobra is neat. When a train approaches it goes "whooooo! whoooo! Train approaching." Unfortunately the emergency vehicle warning sounds when the vehicle is about 100 feet away or not until it passes!

VG-2 Detection is something that detects radar detector detectors... The other 'emergency vehicle detection' is what ambulances and other emergency vehicles will turn on when en-route with full blare lights and sirens are on. It's an emission to let people with such a detection know that they need to pay attention to vehicles and hazards in the area. Sometimes your neighborhood police officer will forget to turn his off, so you know he's there without being tagged. Also another excuse for having the dmn thing in the first place.
