PNG of a web page

I use PDF software frequently to "print" to a PDF file. This however doesn't always work well because it separates the webpage into different pages.

What I want is to copy, like an image, the entire page, regardless if it is several pages.

I've seen many PNG files online that are super long, that are essentially image copies, without page numbers, of a webpage. Sure, if someone tried to print that PNG then it would have to be several pages.

An example of a work around is to take a screen shot of the webpage you want to have a visual copy of, and then hitting the page down button, and taking another screen shot (several times). This then gives you multiple screen shots for one length page. I am looking for a piece of software or something where it is one continuous image, according to the length of the webpage.

Does this make any sense? 🙂

With Safari, you can create a WebArchive (at least on Mac, but I imagine the Windows version can as well), but you can also check out what's called a CHM:

An example is that I use CutePDF for Firefox/Word/etc to create PDF files. The problem with it is that it is just like a printer driver in that it will cut off pages of websites into multiple pages as well as format and organize the data of a webpage the same way as it would print out on a printer. This is precisely what I don't want. A really lengthy web page, with many graphics, I want as one continuous file, probably in a JPG or PNG or something that I can pull up later in a graphic program and zoom in and out and essentially read the whole page as one giant page.

I use a FF add-on called Screengrab! (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1146) to get a screenshot and pdf995 (http://www.pdf995.com/) to convert the image file to PDF.

Screengrab looks pretty cool. I think you can also adjust the paper type/size to custom dimensions when you print to PDF so that it's super long.
