<< Instead of the manager taking proper action and simply refusing the PM, the customer is arrested for criminal tresspass. >>

lol...And I'm the one not reading the whole story. He was never arrested, he was detained, and he was also never booked or charged for anything.
>>

Dude, The police wrote the report not him. Did you see the police report? I assume the police know the difference between detain and arrest, right? ;)

"If the gloves don't fit, you have to acquit!" -- who said that :D

Yes, you are the one not reading the whole story. He was arrested.

Did you miss the huge "ARREST" in capital letters on the incident report? Or did you miss my reply to you last night with the link to the document (of course, you are dismissing the document as fake, anyway)?

It's an incident report. I see where it says it, but was he booked or charged with anything? Was he read his rights?

It says "ARREST" in huge capitol letters. Can't you read pulse8?

Edit: You finally caught on. YOu don't have to have your rights read to be arrested. The police are just supposed to read them to you. You also don't have to be charged with something to be arrested.

It doesn't matter if he was booked or charged with anything, he was still arrested.

Why doesn't it matter? You can get arrested or detained for just about anything.

Although detaining the guy for trying to PM for a video card was over the edge... I can't say I blame the Best Buy employees for being sick of these people..

What's your point? He was arrested. He had a humilating experience and was deprived of his freedom. Some of the people shopping at BB - some of whom may know him - may have assumed he was being arrested for shoplifting instead of pricematching.

Evidently - wisely - the police let him go after seeing how weak BB's complaint was. The civil courts look very dimly at false arrest charges.

And add pricematching at BB to your "everything" list.

<< I can't say I blame the Best Buy employees for being sick of these people.. >>

Then perhaps BB should stop their sloppy and misleading advertising.

So are you goin to arrest all of em for tryin to pm? In this internet world, one mistake is magnified 100,000 times compare to B&M so they have to prepare for it. If you can't stand the heat, don't play with fire ;)

While being taken out of the store He should have yelled, "Don't refuse the extended service plan or you'll be next!"

People, you're getting completely off the point. This guy was ARRESTED just b/c he was trying to pricematch, greedy or not. All the manager had to say is "Sorry, can't do it" and there would have been no story.

This self-righteous crap is nauseating--like you're perfect in God's eyes and always have been.

Of which there is NO proof in this case as the police detective evidently dismissed BB's complaint as unworthy to consider after investigating.

Your link goes nowhere for me (same as the rest of your posts in this thread up to now).

Also after detaining him. Oh, wait. Should they have let him go AND THEN investigated the claim?

The police acted properly. This is NOT in question - quit trying to squirm out of this.

It was Beast Buy's manager that evidently acted wrongly in charging our man in question with criminal tresspass . . . are you still having difficulties comprehending this?

Incorrect. The BB had him arrested for fraud. The cops did the right thing and arrested him pending the investigation by the detective. The detective contacted BB to get the required documentation to prove the Fraud and the manager then CHANGED his story and said he refused to leave. This is naughty naughty, in fact the detective could have went down there and arrested the manager for doing that. He essentially filed a false police report asking for an arrest for fraud then refusing to provide documentation of that fraud.

If I was the guy that got arrested I would call the detective back and ask if you could press charges against the manager for a false police report that resulted in your arrest and detention. A just payback would be him getting cuffed and arrested.

Maetryx here,

I don't have a GF4. I don't have a BestBuy in my city. I never heard of the BB/GF4 fiasco until long after the original drama had unfolded. I don't want a GF4 at this time. This is my preamble and my disclaimer.

I think from reading all the BB/GF4 threads and other sources of information that BB has perpetuated an illegal bait and switch on the public. The original "price error" specifically mentioned that the customer was getting the deal for $200 less than the normal selling price. Whoever wrote that advertisement was fully aware of the magnitude of the discout. BB *accepted* orders for this product at that price, and charged customer's credit cards for the purchase.

By all elements of contract law, this was a done deal. BB was obligated by some of the most basic laws of this nation to honor their lawful contract with those customers. This was not a case where there was a lack of a "meeting of the minds". BB understood that they had sold a specific product for a specific price, and they further understood that they were selling that product for $200 less than their projected normal price. They accepted payment for the product.

No judge on earth should let BB out of the legally binding contract with the customers who's credit cards were charged that day. I don't have it in for BB. Again, the few times I've ever been in a BB, I really loved the place (which is what happens when you live in a remote place like I do). I happily spent money therein and wished my hometown had such a store. It doesn't change the fact that BB is obligated to fulfill their contracts, just like every other party to a legal contract in this country.

Thanks for the extra clarification (it makes BB's manager look even more heavy-handed). I was (simply) referring to the final charge of criminal tresspass as written on the Incident Report.

And this GF4 problem can be laid directly at Beast Buy's doorstep for their "bait & switch" tactics. It's not the first time.

You guys wanna support BB, fine with me. You will eventually get burned if you shop there enough.

If it had been a person instead of BB selling here in the For Sale/Trade forum they would have been labeled as a troll and promptly banned.
