After reading several things on the PM's I am thinking I may be going in the wrong direction with my choice of an 64 3400+ for my gaming proc of choice. I have heard some things positive and some things negative about it. I am more of an AMD fanboy, but I could go Intel if this is the best proc for gaming out there.

A64 is a better gaming processor... but P-M is a better notebook processor if you plan to use your lappy while on the go. Neither will let you down. I can tell you that I'm an AMD fan but I would go intel if I were to buy a new wintel laptop...
 
It depends on what your priorities are. If you are going to be travelling with the laptop all the time then go with a P-M. If you are going to be pulled in most of the time then go with the AMD.
