First of all I know this is not a hot deal. However since more than 50% of the deals posted in the Hot Deal Forum does involve with price match so I hope MODs can allow a thread for us to share the tips and tricks when it comes to price match.

For example, we all know Staples PM with everyone but they DO add overnight shipping cost to the price. This sometime is annoying because some place charge $100+ to ship a camera!! However, many people probably don't know that Office Max PM with everyone as well but they DO NOT add overnight shipping to the PM. But what about Staples has many $ off coupons? Guess what! Officemax will take any competitors coupons too!! They will take the coupon when they deliver though.

Let's take Canon S100 digital camera for example:

Camerasound.com has it for $383 while both Staples and Office Max listed for $499. You can PM with both place and use $40 coupon but Staples will add $20 for shipping so your price will be $363 and Office Max is $343. $343 is definitely the lowest price you can find.... maybe this post does qualify as an hot deal after all.....

Anyway, I just hope that we can learn tricks and tips that we don't know from other people. Since I don't think this topic should be in OT or anywhere else, I'll just let the MODs to decide where it should be at. Thanks.

Good thread. Hope it lasts.

What are the mechanics behind the pricematch. IE order it online first and then call the CSR? Or do you have the CSR process it all manually, including coupon?

You can either call to PM first and then place the order over the phone or order online first then call for PM. I like to confirm the PM with a Live Support first, once approved I ask them to wait while I complete the order online. Give them the order number and they will finish the rest. This way you have already entered the coupon code so they will not ask questions like "where you got the coupon", etc.

airduct:

I know OM do it online and by phone. Not sure about B&M but you can call OM catalog ordering and ask them if you can use the GC and the question about PM in B&M. Her's the number in case you don't have it, 1-800-283-7674.

Thanks. I've been trying to get a digital camera for weeks. Now if only Staples would honor their pricematches! They seem to be real pissy about the Kodak.

Not being forced to take overnite shipping can take some effort. First try to PM with a site with free shipping. Explain to the CSR that you do not want overnite shipping and you shouldn't be forced to take it. Next step would be to ask to talk to a supervisor. An alternative with little effort is to just hang up and call again, chances are you will get a different CSR with a whole new set of rules.
